Statement on Sculptural Works
(Each body of work has its own goal and artist blog therefore this is a general introduction.)

My work is about time, structure, and motion. For the past few years I have been creating sculptural structures that explore the relationships between these concepts.

I choose materials and forms that allow me to juxtapose design and material use in interesting shapes that speak to both the ultra-modern and the ancient. Although static forms seem to be without time, the concept is very important in my work and manifests itself in the formal references and or execution of a given work. In some cases the forms become timelines with gradual change over distance in the work.

I often create uncovered structures that seek to elevate the underlying physicality of a form. I find that describing a fluid and organic form in terms of straight and rectilinear materials often enhances and counterbalances the basic shape as well as providing a language for the brain to understand the form, even from a photograph.
